There can be solar tax credits and incentives available at the federal, state and local levels. The calculator above will show you the value of all incentives your home is eligible for.
Florida is the Sunshine State, so it makes sense that it's the perfect place for homeowners to get solar panels and save money.
Thanks to the federal solar tax credit, buying solar is cheaper than it's ever been here. There are even some battery backup incentives popping up in parts of the state. Plus, your savings will last at least 25 years because solar panel warranties guarantee production long into the future.
Read on to discover how much home solar incentives can save you in Florida!
Learn what solar incentives are available to Florida homeowners
See what Florida solar incentives you qualify for based on your utility company and city
Find out how much these incentives and/or Florida solar tax credits will reduce your cost to go solar and add batteries
The federal solar investment tax credit will have the biggest impact on the cost you will face to go solar in Florida
If you install your photovoltaic system before the end of 2032, the federal tax credit is 30% of the cost of your solar panel system. This is 30% off the entire cost of the system including equipment, labor, and permitting.
Example: If your solar energy system costs $20,000, your federal solar tax credit would be $20,000 x 30% = $6,000.
The federal tax credit falls to 26% starting in 2033.
With net metering in some states, you get full retail rate credit for the amount of electricity you send back into the grid with your solar panels.
Net metering requires your utility to monitor how much energy your solar power system produces and how much energy you actually consume and make sure you get credit for the surplus.
Florida’s Public Service Commission “PSC” set specific standards for net metering back in 2008. Assuming you’re a customer of an investor-owned utility (most of us), any net excess generation, AKA surplus energy, is carried forward as a credit at the full retail rate to your next bill for up to 12 months. At the end of a 12-month billing period, the utility pays you for any remaining excess energy at an avoided-cost rate.
Not only is that just about the perfect net metering law, but it also looks like you won’t have any problems getting on the grid. Unlike most states, Florida has no set cap on how many solar systems it will allow to hook up to the grid. Your small residential system also lacks any of the possible hurdles and red tape that we see in other states.
Florida has no statewide solar rebate program; the few patchwork fill-ins from individual utility companies have closed. You may have heard of the statewide rebate program; Florida’s Solar Energy Systems Incentive Program is sadly no longer taking new applicants.
However, battery incentives are showing up around the state. In Jacksonville, for example, you can get up to $4,000 when you install a battery. The program is currently full, but the utility could reallocate funds next year.
Thank goodness Florida also realizes that homes with solar are worth more than homes without, and the state has been willing to exempt that value from additional property taxes. Your home’s value increases as much as $20 for every dollar of electricity you save in a year. Not paying taxes on that value is a sweet deal.
Home solar panel systems are also free from state sales tax, saving you 6% or more right off the bat.

We spend about half of our year down in Punta Gorda so our energy usage allowed us to only need 24 panels. Seems like everyone around the neighborhood has been adding panels and we hadn’t heard any regrets about making the switch. Affordable Solar worked with at least 4 of our neighbors & we hope to refer even more of the community! Solar energy is the wave of the future and I’m excited to see such a young company excelling. Extra thanks to Angel F and Spencer M for all their help.

It's been a year since I got solar with Solcium. I produced more than they promised the solar would. Sally my rep was great and helpful. Anytime I had questions we could reach out to her and she would answer. Very professional. The office would always respond within 15 minutes of my calls. The customer care after the system has been up has been impeccable, the customer experience rep Sebastian was knowledgeable, breaks things down so they were easier to understand, and he was very patient. Overall, it's been a pleasure.

When Tesla won't return your calls or offer a system to fit your needs... When the other guys want to give you a quote without coming to your house... You go with Solar Source because they came right out, explained all of our options clearly, gave us proper quotes after surveying the house and our needs, and have been the single most professional company of ANY we have worked with in the state. From sales to installation these guys have done everything right by us, have done it as they promised, have done it on time, and (best of all) have done everything correctly. No shortcuts taken, this is how professionals do things the right way. Two thumbs up.

Had multiple quotes from many companies but choosing Solar-Ray was a no-brainer. Not only are they Florida’s first certified contractor to qualify and receive the nationally recognized NABCEP Certification for PV, they also have been installing solar since 2003; that’s over 18 years of experience. On top of that, they are offering 5% cash back from total cost given to you after the installation is completed. Michael Brown (Owner) is always educating himself on solar and keeping up to date with new products as they release. One thing that sets them apart is the various tests they perform with what they currently install vs what’s new to the market. Time and time again, the Equipment he offers outperforms new equipment like micro inverters, etc. Solar Ray is also BBB accredited and has a ton of other achievements and awards. They also provide amazing warranties for any roof leaks (if caused by the install) and 25 year warranty on equipment. Dennis (Salesman) went out of his way to make sure I understood everything that was being done from start to finish. He even went above and beyond by answering all my questions (which I had plenty) and helped me choose the best option/equipment for my roof and usage. I highly recommend this company and Dennis adds great value to this company with exceptional customer service and knowledge. I will definitely be using this company again for future solar installs and will also be referring them to my friends and family who are thinking about going solar. You will not regret choosing Solar Ray, so what are you waiting for?

I got Solar panels installed in my house two years ago and with it there was a once a year panels cleanings, at the 1st year I'd call them to set an appointment and they never came to clean the panels and never called me to cancel or to update me, I called them with no luck of getting them to get my Solar panels cleaned. Two and half month ago I called for service again and they gave me an appointment for 3 weeks they called me 2 days before to cancel the appointment and gave me an appointment for 3 weeks later, they never came or called me to update me. Today May 21 2024 I called them again and they scheduled an appointment for the 29th, I'd let them know that if service is not done by then I will file a Lawsuit on the 30th. I've been very patient with SOLAR BEAR but not any more.

EHS quoted my solar panels. After discussing my electrical usage they determined I get 8 panels. It was explained thoroughly after the panels were up, passed inspection and Duke was set, there was the enphase app I would download and it would show my production, usage as well as individual panel production. Brian came out for the exit visit which was to show me how it worked but since it was going to take longer than his stay to download all the information from the previous week, he couldn’t go through everything. When everything was downloaded and working on the app, I went logged in only to find I could not see my usage. I called EHS and was told by Brittany that I didn’t order that panel and it would cost $500 for that box. Never was there an option presented and after being told by Josh (my salesman) that I would be able to see all this information, why would I question if I had to buy a particular box? This was the icing on the cake since I have been waiting for a month for Josh to call or text me back. After several calls and leaving messages when his voice mail wasn’t full, texting him and calling the company and leaving messages, he would not return my calls to try and resolve all the issues. One of the issues was an advertisement that the solar system would come with a free Tesla Battery. I sent him all the screen shots of the ad and never a word back about it. This was even after he called to apologize for not getting back to me and said he was at EHS and would call me back when he got inside. Never heard from him and it’s been a couple weeks already. Then I asked for the signed contract which Josh and I spoke about putting in the notes specified information. He sent me the drafts and I agreed on the draft dated March 15, 2024. Turns out the signed contract that was sent to me did not include any notes and they switched the panels from Silfab to Q-Cell. I called EHS and was told there are no notes. Then I was told by Brittany she saw several drafts that Josh showed her. I said yes there were so why wouldn’t the contract contain any notes? I asked to speak to the owner of the company. Brittany said he doesn’t speak to customers. I went online to watch a youtube how Shawn Henry says they provide customer satisfaction. NO THEY DON’T! They tell you things, even put it in writing and advertise online, then switch it on you. On March 15, 2024 when I accepted the notes in the contract, Josh told me after the system was up and running he would refund me $120 as we discussed since the first quotes of the 8 panel system they originally quotes me they claimed they couldn’t do a system that small. Why was I quoted prices by two different people at the company for an 8 panel system? Seems like a lot of bait and switch. Josh presented everything I wanted and then changed it. The company has done nothing to rectify any of this.

Daniel was great to work with because there was no hard sell and it was clear those guys know what they're doing very well. I had another quote from a different company that was way higher and they were all focused on trying to tell me how much the monthly payment would be but it was going to be a lot more money for a lot fewer panels. So solar tech elec did a great job on the installation and service and pricing is also super good. Anyone looking for solar panels should definitely give these guys a call.

Phase I (26 roof mounted panels) are now working correctly. We started out with some bad panels, but Alex and his team got these replaced and the system is working! It is great working with a local company that has an "on staff" designer and electricians, unlike many other companies that sub-out the electrical to electricians that may not have solar experience. Now that phase I is complete, we are looking forward to having Phase II (starting next week with 21 additional ground mounted panels) installed to create a system that will eliminate my high GRU bill. It has been a long process with the delay of GRU in granting work permits, but it will be worth it in the end. Many thanks to Alex, Gabby and the rest of the crew.
