Excellent Experience with Freedom Solar
From the start Mike Carey gave us excellent service. He spent more than two hours with my wife and I and explained every facet of the project in detail including finance options. Once the project was approved by all parties the installation was scheduled and adhered to. The overall time for the project from my appointment with Mike to the time I could use the system was a little more than two months, which I was more than satisfied with. The Goat team (hopefully I have their team's name correct) installed the hardware and Jessie did the electrical connection work. The installers experience was evident with both parts of the project being very professionally accomplished. Last, but by no means least, a shout out to the unsung heroes on the customer service team and in particular Maria. She was very helpful when needed. The system has been up and running for approximately two months and at this point we are more than satisfied. Thank you for a job well done.

Terrible business practices
I signed with Freedom for months ago and still have not received an install date. Period. I had another company come out and offer another quote. They pointed out FREEDOM was only covering 70% of my electrical usage and they were about $20,000 over priced. I attempted to cancel and kept being sent to different people/departments. I asked for a copy of my contract when they told me my cancellation fee was $8500 but they sent me a totally different contract for a different person in a different state I attempted again and they said the contract was already canceled, so I left it at that. Then they came back and said I still owe the $8500. I have attempted to settle for a reasonable price but have not heard back from the “proper department”. Terrible business practices to trap you in an overpriced contract with an overpriced cancellation fee when there is no proof that any work has even been completed. Then they can’t even call or email you back! Avoid this company at all costs, you can’t even find them on google reviews anymore which is suspicious

I wanted it to WORK! AND IT DOES, thanks to Sam Cochran.
Hello; My experience with power outages began with Hurricane Ike. We were without power for 13 days. I met my brother-in-law in Rayne, Louisiana to get generators, gas, and air conditioners. My brother-In-law worked for Exxon and he had 75 gallons of gas for us. Thanks to him, we made it through Ike. Later, I was still not receptive to Solar Energy, but I knew I had to take care of my family if we had another storm. Then, it snowed. My sister had no power, and the plumbing froze in her house here and in Canyon Lake. We were fortunate and only lost power for a short time. I still ran off the people wanting to show me Solar Power. One day, I shocked my wife by saying that we needed to learn about Solar Power. I knew from other friends how expensive running a whole house generator on propane was for them and due to our health issues, knew I had to do something. We have plenty of sunlight and no natural gas. Therefore, Solar Energy was by far our best option. I looked up companies and reviews and set up a few appointments. I read an article that said SunPower had the best solar panels. I called, and later, Sam Cochran of came to talk to us. Sam was on time, knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. He listened to us and taught us about SunPower. When he started to calculate what our needs were, I gave him my requirements. I wanted it to work. Period! I don’t like things that don’t work. He listened and showed us what we needed and a few days later, we purchased his proposal. He kept in contact with us and answered every question we had. He made this experience very easy. If you want the best solar power solution and you want it to work. Sam Cochran and SunPower are the people to work with. Sincerely, H. L. & Debbie Brooks

Horrible Service
I bought a home in June 2023 that had solar panels installed in 2022. This was a major part of my decision to buy this home. Our solar panels stopped working in September 2023 and I have been in constant (twice a week) contact with Freedom Solar and the manufacturer, Sun Power, about the problem. Both companies acknowledge the problem but have done nothing but promise it will be fixed. They frequently blame each other for the lack of service. They did send a man out in mid-November to look at the problem, but he confessed that he had only been with the company a short time and that he was unsure of how to fix it, nor did he have the proper tools to analyze the problem. I have also asked and submitted paperwork back in September to transfer the warranty. I have followed up regularly since the and still don’t have a copy of the transfer. These two companies are the worst contractors I have had to work with in over 40 years of home ownership. I am now faced with hiring attorneys to resolve the nonperformance issues and I have lost hundreds of dollars in solar energy rebates. THIS IS NOT ONLY POOR PERFORMAnCE BUT PLACES A STAIN ON THE ENTIRE GREEN INDUSTRY.

Very happy with my solar project
Would like to thank and recognize Edgar Edwards for his outstanding communication and advice through out this project. I am now totally on solar power and received my first rebate from the power company this month. Very happy that I will have power even with the frequent hurricanes Florida has been experiencing. Yes a little pricey but totally worth it for power availability peace of mind. Thank you Freedom Solar and Edgar Edwards.

Overcharge for solar, poor customer service
I generally do not leave reviews, but my experience with this company is so awful I feel I need to help others stay away. Do yourself a favor and do not do business with this company or sunpower. Don’t buy into a warranty as they essentially will find excuses not to cover anything. System production low? Well they were just estimates. Trying to get service after installation is pretty much nonexistent. Now the service may vary from state to state but I can guarantee the team in Texas are not trustworthy. Go with other companies and do not pay the premium that freedomsolar and sunpower ask for. The performance is on par with others and the supposedly best warranty in the business is just smoke and mirrors. They’ll try and upsell you on the fact that after 25 years it’ll still produce 92% , oh sure but there’s a lot of factors that can affect this. Cloudy days, crappy weather, shade, all these will affect your numbers so literally the 92% warranty means nothing. Don’t worry about the degradation numbers go with efficiency and lower prices. Essentially the competition guarantees 86% while sunpower guarantees 92%. You’re paying 30-40% more for that 6% difference. You can easily offset that by buying more panels at the cheaper price and still end up paying less than you would with sunpower. Again, the warranty and service promises are empty promises so it does not justify the price and you will get zero customer service for your trouble as well. They overcharge you for what they are selling you by 30% and then use the federal tax incentive to bring the price back down which is still 30-40% higher than you would get elsewhere. For my particular installation they installed panels in an area shaded by the adjoining roof, and when the panels were underperforming and I tried to get them to fix it, they would not.

Best service anywhere from Freedom Solar
From the sales to the installation crew...The very best, Professional, friendly really knows what they are doing, worked hard, cleaned up and made sure all was done above and beyond what they had to do. I called the sales person, Douglas so many times with questions and was answered every time and always friendly and took care of every question and problem I have. The installation crew, Apollo 11, I think they called themselves...WOW! They are the cream of the crop and none better anywhere.

In general, we have been satisfied with the Investment we made
What we are not totally satisfied with is our Freedom Solar Power Tesla PowerWall Selfpower Battery System Performance Monitoring APP. Our Experience with them is the App is not totally accurate and does not register the actual amount of Utility Grid Power being used. We have been experiencing an amount of Utility Power usage being registered by the App when the Tesla Powerwall batteries were registering a Selfpower Reserve Capacity available to furnish the total power requirement of our home. It should be registering a 0% of Utility Power Usage and it registers a numerical percentage of Utility Power being used. We have tried for the past two months get a Tesla PowerWall Service Representative (also a Freedom Solar Power's Customer Service Representative to assist us), to address and correct the problem, but to date nothing has been done.
